I have two young boys and so hobbies are taken up with spending time with my young family. We love to explore the park, go on bike rides, go swimming or anything else that involves spending time with my family. I also enjoy traveling and taking any chance I can to read.
Snow was a great place to start my education because it allowed me to find myself in a safe and supportive environment. I was able to be a part of organizations and classes that gave me the confidence to step out and position myself to succeed in life. The small classrooms and family-like campus environment made it easy to feel like I could take chances, experiment with different ideas, and gave me the confidence to feel like I had support whether I failed or succeeded.
As a member of the Snow College Ambassador Team I had so many opportunities to share my passion for Snow. As I think back on my favorite memories from Snow they almost always include my Ambassador family and being a part of such a great organization. The best memories where directing campus tours with prospective students and being able to share my passion for education and Snow.
After attending Snow I was fortunate to join the Ambassador Team at Utah State University and continue on a path that fed my passion for higher education. Shortly after graduating with my degree I joined the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah and have been here since. I started in the Career Services Office, but moved over to the Executive MBA program where I have been able to grow in my career for the past five years. I started as a coordinator to the program and have used my experiences and been able to build a career for myself and now manage the programs admissions and operations. I have never been able to get away from the recruiting field that started as an Ambassador at Snow College. I have had a chance to travel the world with students and learn more about business education and improving higher education for individuals who are life-time learners and have passion for bettering the business world.
As a full-time working mom my life is busy balancing family, work, friends, and making sure that I am always working to better myself personally and professionally.
I think my piece of advice would be to always push yourself to do more than you think you can. Do everything you can to feel comfortable being uncomfortable. Its only when you feel uncomfortable that you are able to break barriers and progress. Never settle for not moving forward, but more importantly, never settle for something that you are not having fun doing.
